Test stand 1, like test stand 2, consists of a modular system of steel beams that can be flexibly assembled to meet different requirements. The test stands are equipped with hydraulic cylinders. Test stand 1 is mainly used for testing sandwich elements. The two time-lapse videos each show a single-span beam test on a sandwich component with hinged bearings. The component is subjected to 4 individual loads that simulate a uniform wind load. The load is transferred from the hydraulic cylinder to a crossbeam, which distributes the load evenly over the 4 load application points. In one , the component fails due to “ buckling”, the typical stability failure of the thin compressive steel cover layer of sandwich elements; in the other video, core failure occurs due to shear. video
